Blåvandshuk Lighthouse is one of the area's most famous landmarks and an experience that is definitely worth a visit when on holiday in Vejers. The lighthouse is located at Denmark's westernmost point, Blåvands Huk, from where you can experience an impressive panoramic view of the North Sea and Horns Rev.
From Vejers it is only about 12 km along the coast on foot or by bike, while the trip by car takes about 15 minutes. The journey there is in itself a beautiful experience through the dune landscape of West Jutland.
A historic lighthouse by the sea
Blåvandshuk Lighthouse was built in 1900 to replace an older angular lighthouse from 1888. The lighthouse is 39 metres high, but because it stands on a high dune, the light reaches 55 metres above sea level. The light from the lighthouse can be seen up to 60 kilometres out to sea and still serves as a navigation point for shipping in the area.
Visitors can climb the 170 steps to the top, where a fantastic view awaits. From here you can look out over the North Sea, Horns Rev Wind Farm and the beautiful landscape around Vejers, Kallesmærsk Hede and Blåvand.
