A paradise for coastal fishing
Along the coast at Vejers you can catch flounder, flatfish, mackerel and garfish. With a bit of luck, you may also come across salmon passing the area on their way to Skallingen and Varde Å.
However, the area is particularly known for turbot fishing, which attracts anglers from all over the country. Turbot can often be caught right from the coast, and local fishermen report that turbot weighing up to 5-6 kilos are regularly caught.
Pigfish can be caught in many different weather conditions, but many experienced fishermen believe that the chances are best at high tide. Natural bait is often the best choice as turbot can quickly recognise artificial bait.
The peak season for turbot fishing is typically from April to July.
