About Klithjem

Bathing hotel since 1925 - Vejers Strand - Adults only

When the first guests came to Klithjem more than 100 years ago, they were looking for the sea, tranquillity and a sanctuary from city life.

Since 1925, Klithjem Badehotel has been located behind the first row of dunes in Vejers Strand. Just 350 metres from the North Sea and far from everyday life. There's no hustle and bustle or packed programme - just nature, quiet mornings and time for each other. The atmosphere here is as you remember it from the seaside hotels of your childhood. Simple, genuine and present.

Bathing hotel on the west coast

What is Klithjem?

Klithjem is a historic bathing hotel on Vejers Strand - just 350 metres from the North Sea. The seaside hotel has 24 rooms, is for adults only and includes half board with breakfast and three courses every evening. It is one of the few remaining seaside hotels on the west coast of Denmark. A place that has stood on the same foundation since 1925.

Klithjem Badehotel is for guests who choose silence over noise and intimacy over fast entertainment. For those looking for a true coastal experience by the North Sea - not a package deal.

Time doesn't stand still here. It's just allowed to slow down a little. A small retreat where the atmosphere is homely, the pace calm and the hospitality personal.

Here we keep it simple. The calm. The presence.

Staying at the small seaside hotel by the North Sea

Staying at Klithjem is about slowing down and just being. Our 24 rooms are decorated with respect for the history of the seaside hotel and its location close to the sea - in calm colours inspired by the sand, sea and dunes that are right outside the door.

Each room has its own charm and small details that tell the story of the place. Here you can wake up in tranquil surroundings, enjoy afternoon coffee on the terrace or just relax and let the day pass at your own pace.

Three good reasons to visit Klithjem.

Some places stick in the memory. Not because they are perfect, but because they feel real. Klithjem Badehotel is one such place. There are no grand gestures here. Just a calm, historic and authentic atmosphere, where the floors creak lightly, the light falls softly through the windows and the sea can be heard in the background.

1. Personal - not anonymous

Klithjem is one of the few remaining small beach hotels by the North Sea in Denmark. With only 24 rooms, the atmosphere is homely and cosy. Here you will know the staff by name and they will quickly get to know you. There are no conference guests, no large groups and no busy reception. Just guests who are looking for the same thing as you - peace and relaxation by the North Sea.

2. True history and atmosphere

When Klithjem opened in 1925, it was with a desire to create a place by the sea where guests could find peace and relax. Although the seaside hotel has been renovated and customised over time, the spirit is still the same. Klithjem is a classic seaside hotel where the history is in the walls and the hospitality is warm.

3. Nature - worth a visit in itself

Vejers Strand is a small and charming seaside resort where nature is something special all year round. Here you'll find one of Denmark's widest sandy beaches, an impressive and raw dune landscape and open spaces that change character with the seasons. Enjoy the sunset by the beach, or explore the area on foot or by bike - summer, autumn, winter and spring. You may encounter red deer or other animals roaming freely in the area.
